Man, this hobby's getting out of control!
Ok, so I'm about to pick up an Ultra version 1, but just want everyone's opinion...
1.) I have the BTC. Should I just find an older J&S unit, sell the BTC, or keep both. What would the benefits be, if any, to keep both?
2.) Although version 1 is advertised for the JRSC, some people w/ the JR kit has the version 2. What are the particular reasons behind that?
I do plan on upping the boost (probably via stepper pulley), just want all the info I can get before making this purchase in particular. Just trying to keep from updating my sig. every few months.
For example, I just finished installing all 3 gauges the other weekend and now the Auto A/F may be tossed in favor of the J&S display. $$$, you know! Please steer me in the right direction. Thanks!

Sell the BTC and get the v.2 Ultra. Definitely get the v.2 Ultra!
The v.2 Ultra will allow you to move the MAP sensor which will completely eliminate tip-in detonation.

3 reasons why I went with the Ultra V2.
1) It fits a wider range of cars (higher resale value, or i can reuse it on my next car possibly)
2) Its only $50 more, already dropping large coin.
3) you can supposedly tune a JRSC at WOT by relocating the MAP sensor to the plenum and adjusting the limiter voltage (to a certain extent).
Search this board for your first question. Its been asked a few times.

...and yes. Its out of control. I am out of control.

Yes...I verified this today by playing with the map limiter circuit settings. Reducing the voltage seen by the ECU caused the car to run leaner across the board at WOT. Increasing the voltage will cause it to run richer.

Thanks for the suggestion Sonny. I've thought about the ver. 2 as well in case I defect to the turbo side in the future.
But you guys are so far advanced dealing with voltages, sensors and such, I was thinking, maybe when I get the v2 and everything else together, I can pay you a visit (fellow Bay Area neighbor) and you can help me out. The rest of you wrenchheads are half way across the nation.

Oh, and Sonny, did the MAP sensor relocation w/ Safeguard mod effect idle quality, or cause a noticable decrease in mileage?
I held off on a mod like Rjaffey's because it wouldn't pass smog. Then again. I think after the cartech, Safeguard, injectors and 9 lbs. passing smog becomes a pipedream to say the least, right?
And then there's another bypass mod discussed recently which did cause higher idle and noticeably lower mileage which I may forego (or is this the same as Jaffe's)?
As you can see, I haven't been able to absorb everything yet. But that's why I'm here! Thanks everyone!

Relocating the MAP sensor will not affect idle at all since the MAP sensor will see the same pressure as before. So to answer your question, no, no change in idle quality.
As far as passing smog, it is entirely possible to do with a 9 psi setup as long as you force the bypass valve open. I think if you disable the FMU and force the bypass open, the car will pretty much act like the JRSC is not even there. No matter how hard they mash the pedal, no boost will enter the system and therefore no additional fuel will be added beyond what is added by the stock FPR between idle and atmosphere.
